About RealView Debugger:
The new version of ARM RealView Debugger has been enhanced with support for the ARM ETM solution, using the new RealView ICE unit and RealView Trace module while also supporting users with existing ARM JTAG and Trace capture devices. Code running on multiple processors can be debugged in the same session, using a single debug kernel, enabling independent or synchronized stop, start and stepping. Extended target visibility allows to display peripheral registers and memory values in a user configurable meaningful notation. A new feature is OS-aware debugging and is available today for Symbian OS, ATI Nucleus and ThreadX.
RealView ICE is a new JTAG emulator from ARM for high-speed downloads ( in excess of 600 kbytes/s over JTAG @ 10 MHz ). This level of performance is enabled by high-speed host connections via Ethernet or USB.
The optional RealView Trace module plugs onto the RealViewICE unit capturing information from the on-chip embedded trace macrocell ( ETM ), at data rates in excess of 200 MHz. The resulting trace information allows the developer to identify difficult software/hardware interaction bugs and optimize performance.
