ARM® Mali™ graphics products deliver the optimal solution for all embedded graphics needs.
Wherever high-performance low-power advanced graphics is required – from 2D/3D user interfaces and multimedia to real mobile browsing experience, navigation systems and automotive infotainment, advanced gaming and high definition video technologies – ARM Mali graphics products enable system-on-chip (SoC) designers, device manufacturers and content developers to deliver the highest quality, cutting edge graphics solutions across the broadest range of consumer devices.
The Total Graphics Solution
ARM Mali technology enables high quality and fastest time to market through integrated and proven support of a first class graphics stack including hardware, driver software, middleware (Java) and tools. Together with a comprehensive graphics ecosystem of Connected Community Partners, ARM addresses the full range of graphics activities — from SoC design through to content development and optimization. As the most widely deployed embedded systems IP supplier, ARM is able to achieve unsurpassed Power, Performance and Area (PPA) through a system level approach, combining compatible system level IP (bus, cache, CPUs, GPUs), enabling our Partners to achieve optimum configurations which can be simulated and validated pre-release. Internally-developed and pre-verified software drivers are produced in tandem with market leading ARM Java graphics software and validated with Mali graphics acceleration hardware.
Hardware Accelerated 3D graphics - High Performance and Image Quality
The Mali Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) family achieves amazing image quality through 4X/16X full scene anti-aliasing (FSAA). 4X FSAA is provided with no overhead or drop in frame rate for market-leading anti-aliasing quality.
- Versatile Architecture and Low Production Cost
From multi-core OpenGL ES 2.0 / OpenVG 1.1 solutions supporting large hi-definition displays and general multimedia acceleration such as video post-processing, to the world’s smallest OpenGL ES 1.1 / OpenVG 1.0 graphics processing unit at just 1.0mm² @ 65nm providing 3D and 2D acceleration for the cost of a 2D-only GPU.
- Efficient Memory Bandwidth Usage and Low Power
Implementing a next generation tile-based renderer with optimized data-structures and algorithms in order to minimize the amount of bus traffic, one of the biggest consumers of power in a graphics processor.

- M3G-compliant 3D graphics engine
ARM Mali-jsr184 3D software engine is the world’s first commercially available M3G-compliant 3D graphics engine for wireless devices. Designed to deliver console-quality, interactive 3D Java and native applications, Mali-JSR184 technology has been developed in close collaboration with leading mobile game developers to provide the optimum platform for deploying applications with high visual quality and playability.
- Complementary middleware products
ARM middleware software is currently licensed to all major handset OEMs and is tuned to deliver optimum performance with Mali hardware. This suite of middleware is used in conjunction with third party IP to validate Mali hardware (and associated drivers) providing our Partners with the highest standards of quality and reduced time to market.
- Mali SDK - Tools support for Mali GPUs
A suite of tools is available for developers targeting Mali graphics processing units. The Mali Software Development Kit (SDK) includes tools for performance analysis, shader compilation, texture compression, shader debug, desktop emulation, asset conditioning and more. In addition ARM is working with content providers, device manufacturers and third party tools vendors to ensure wide support and adoption of Mali graphics hardware in the market.
ARM at the centre of media processing
ARM is focused on leadership in the provision of multimedia IP for the consumer, wireless and automotive infotainment device markets, creating competitive advantage for our Partners through licensing complementary IP to both semiconductor partners and device manufacturers. Through strategic alignment with tier-one device manufacturer software teams (for example Mali software and TrustZone® software) ARM works with its Partners to drive the roadmap for next-generation media technology. By investing in supporting ecosystems and the content industry ARM will ensure architectural adoption by device manufacturers and silicon vendors.Back to Top | | |
