ADK The AMBA™ Design Kit (ADK®) provides a generic, stand-alone environment to enable the rapid creation of AMBA-based components and System-on-Chip (SoC) designs. Containing a rich set of basic components and several example system designs, the ADK reduces time-to-market by providing the common foundations for product design based upon the AMBA interface. This frees up engineers to focus on application-specific issues to maximize product performance and obtain the best results from the high performance capabilities of AMBA. ADK Toolkit To enable the SoC designer to become familiar with the AMBA protocol, the ADK provides a fully working simulation environment, a development environment for AMBA modules, and a number of different, pre-configured arrangements from which complex SoC designs can be built. The ADK is available with Verilog language support. The ADK contains a range of components and peripherals which provides the user with the basis for a design based on AMBA interconnect. AHB Components Among the AMBA components included in the ADK is an AHB to APB Bridge, providing an interface between the high-performance, pipelined AHB and the lower bandwidth APB peripheral bus. A selection of AHB bridges that provide asynchronous and synchronous interconnection between AHB domains with differing clock schemes are also provided. Other components include:
- File Reader Bus Master
- Example Bus Master
Multi-layer Bus Matrix Example AHB Slave with Retry Arbiter Internal Memory Test Interface Controller External Memory Interface Interrupt Controller
APB Components The APB bus standard gives designers the flexibility to partition their systems easily into higher bandwidth (lower latency) devices and lower bandwidth (and higher latency) components. A number of APB components are also included in the AMBA Design Kit to give easy access to frequently required ancillary functionality. Items included are: Timers Remap & Pause Controller Watchdog Example Slave
Other Deliverables The AMBA Design Kit also includes example software, synthesis scripts, test benches and documentation all to give designers the quickest possible start with their system design.
