The on-board USB debugger of some of the first Versatile/PB926EJ-S boards (early 2004) was programmed incorrectly. When trying to connect RVD to the ARM926EJ-S the following error was displayed:

"Unable to connect to remote emulator"

In order to reprogram the USB debugger you need to follow these steps:

  1. Power-up the board with the CONFIG link removed and nothing connected to the JTAG/Trace connectors
  2. Connect a USB cable from your host computer to the USB debugger connector
  3. Close any application that uses the USB debugger, such as RVD and Progcards_USB
  4. Decompress the file VPB926EJ-S_USB_update.zip into a folder
  5. Open a DOS box, move to that folder and run versatile_direct_update.exe
