Artisan Components Announces Earnings Release Date and Conference Call Information for First Quarter Fiscal 2003 and Confirms Guidance

SUNNYVALE, Calif., -- January 6, 2003 -- Artisan Components Inc., (Nasdaq: ARTI), a leading provider of semiconductor intellectual property (IP), today announced it will release earnings and hold a conference call for the first quarter of fiscal 2003 after the close of trading on Monday, January 27, 2003. The conference call will begin at 2:00 p.m. PST (5:00 p.m. EST) and will be hosted by Mark Templeton, president and CEO and Joy Leo, chief financial officer.

Artisan also confirmed that it remains confident in the guidance provided in its October 24, 2002 earnings call for its fiscal first quarter and fiscal year ending September 30, 2003. At that call, Artisan provided the following first quarter guidance: total net revenue of $12.0 million and earnings per share of approximately $0.09 excluding recurring amortization of intangible assets and non-cash related charges and based on a tax rate of 40%. Artisan cautioned that these anticipated results are preliminary, based on the best information currently available, and are subject to the final closing of its books and customary accounting procedures. At its upcoming conference call, Artisan also plans to update its guidance for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2003, primarily to incorporate the anticipated acquisition of NurLogic Design, Inc.
