First Generation, High-Performance CPU Based on DynamIQ Technology
The Arm Cortex-A family of high-performance processors is designed for devices undertaking complex compute tasks, from edge to cloud, for next-generation experiences. Cortex-A75 provides the processing capability required for demanding AI and machine learning applications, while providing a performance baseline for even more complex workloads.
Features and Benefits
By supporting the Armv8.2-A architecture, Cortex-A75 provides a broad ecosystem, from tools to OS and applications support. The CPU supports extensions to the architecture to enhance current applications and add new use cases.
The processor, in conjunction with the DynamIQ Shared Unit (DSU), supports a configurable feature set that allows Cortex-A75 CPU to cover smartphones, servers, automotive applications, and intelligent home devices, such as digital television.
Cortex-A75 can execute up to three instructions in parallel per clock cycle, essentially increasing the core’s maximum throughput.
The superscalar processor core decodes, issues, and executes more instructions than previous generations. Enhancements include full out-of-order processing, non-blocking high-throughput L1 caches, and advanced instruction and data prefetching.
Configurable in size, these private L2 caches shorten latencies to memory and keep workloads closer to the cores for accelerated processing and reduced power consumption.
L3 caches in the DynamIQ Shared Unit (DSU) can be used across all processors in the cluster, including Cortex-A75 and Cortex-A55.
Where Innovation and Ideas Come to Life
Mobile Computing
Cortex-A75 continues Arm’s tradition of innovation. Additional compute capability, combined with significant improvements made for machine learning and other advanced used cases, boost performance and enable demanding applications to run more smoothly. Cortex-A75 technology supports multiple applications, such as the smartphone ecosystem, 5G, smart TVs, and wearable devices.
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) are expanding and defining more applications than ever before, changing how we interact with devices and machines everywhere. Arm CPU processor IP is scalable and flexible enough to run any type of ML workload, today or in the future.
Automotive Safety
The car is the most complex electronic device many of us will buy, with more than 100 engine control units soon to become the norm for most vehicles. However, safety is a critical concern. Cortex-A75 supports the highest Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL) standards using the Cortex-R safety island to move us closer to fully autonomous vehicles.
